Dr. Jamil Ahmad, a respected Toronto plastic surgeon, joined The Plastic Surgery Clinic in 2010. He is the Director of Research and Education at the Clinic. Dr. Ahmad is known for his natural results after cosmetic surgery and is sought after for his expertise in rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation procedures, body contouring after weight loss, and revisional aesthetic surgery. Dr. Ahmad is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and enjoys privileges at the University Health Network, as well as Women's College Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital.
Dr. Ahmad is the only plastic surgeon in Canada to complete his plastic surgery residency training at the world renowned, Department of Plastic Surgery, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. In addition, he completed a fellowship in breast reconstruction at the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Toronto.
During his time in medical school at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dr. Ahmad received all three awards in anatomy: the Evatt Memorial Medal, the Stoney Memorial Medal, and the Barker Dissection Prize. He has also been awarded the Gaspar Anastasi award from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery for research in facial anatomy and facelift surgery.
As an active participant in current research and education, Dr. Ahmad is consistently asked to present at international and national meetings, including the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the Canadian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is the Course Director of the Annual University of Toronto Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Symposium. In addition, he serves as faculty at the prestigious Annual Dallas Cosmetic Surgery and Rhinoplasty Symposia.
Dr. Ahmad has authored more than 80 articles and chapters in plastic surgery, including articles in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Aesthetic Surgery Journal, the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery and the Canadian Journal of Plastic Surgery. He has published significant work on rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation, breast augmentation, body contouring surgery, and patient safety during plastic surgery. Most recently, he edited the Dallas Rhinoplasty: Nasal Surgery by the Masters, 3rd Edition. This medical reference volume is considered the definitive treatise on rhinoplasty.
Dr. Ahmad is a faculty member of the University of Toronto Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is actively involved in teaching plastic surgery residents and fellows and is the Director of the University of Toronto-Women's College Hospital Resident Aesthetic Surgery Clinic.
