Dr. Jamil Ahmad joined the Plastic Surgery Clinic in January 2011. This has been a kind of homecoming for him. After training in Ireland and Texas, he returned to his hometown to work with Dr. Frank Lista, one of his mentors in the field of plastic surgery. Not only was Dr. Ahmad born in Mississauga, and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto, he was also a visiting medical student at the Plastic Surgery Clinic. He currently lives with his wife and son in Toronto.
Dr. Ahmad is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and enjoys privileges at the University Health Network, as well as Mount Sinai and St. Michael’s Hospitals.
Dr. Ahmad is the only plastic surgeon in Canada to complete his plastic surgery residency training at the world renowned, Department of Plastic Surgery, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. In addition, he completed a fellowship in breast reconstruction at the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, University of Toronto.
During his time in medical school at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dr. Ahmad received all three awards in anatomy: the Evatt Memorial Medal, the Stoney Memorial Medal, and the Barker Dissection Prize. He has also been awarded the Gaspar Anastasi award from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery for research in facial anatomy and facelift surgery.
As an active participant in current research and education, Dr. Ahmad has been asked to present at national meetings, including the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the Canadian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the organizing committee and faculty at the University of Toronto Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Symposium. In addition, he serves as faculty at the prestigious Dallas Cosmetic Surgery and Rhinoplasty Symposia.
Dr. Ahmad has authored more than 40 articles and chapters in plastic surgery, including articles in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Aesthetic Surgery Journal, and the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery. Most recently, he has published significant work on rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation, breast augmentation, and body contouring surgery.
Dr. Ahmad is a well-respected Toronto plastic surgeon and has quickly become known for his natural results after cosmetic surgery. In particular, he is sought after for his expertise in rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation procedures, body contouring after weight loss, and revisional surgery.
