The "Mommy job" - a triple combination of liposuction, breast lift, and tummy tuck - is ushering in a new cultural phenomenon encouraging women to regain their pre-childbirth bodies.
According to the New York Times, over 325,000 "mommy makeover" cosmetic procedures were performed on women ages 20 to 39. More women are opting for the surgery because it is a three-in-one procedure, while many women are being swayed by the idea that childbirth has somehow warped their figures.
Television shows and other media have capitalized on the concept of glamorizing older women who date younger men, promoting "hot" moms. Yet some believe that the pressure for moms to return to hourglass figures has distorted the view of childbirth's effects. Though the birthing process is a natural part of life, more women are facing cultural pressure to return to the bodies they had before they became moms.
