A Tummy Tuck Patient’s Story

I wanted to send you a note with some photos and tell you about my tummy tuck.

In 2006, I had a “tummy tuck.” It was something I had wanted to do for 10 years, since my children were born, but I was always afraid. I thought if I died during this surgery, doing something so vain, I really would have wasted my life and my children would be without a mother. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I figured being around for my family, despite the flabby stomach, was better than not being around at all.

It wasn't until I got divorced and remarried that I started to realize that I deserved to invest time and energy into myself, and that my entire world was not “just” about being a mom. So, after researching on the internet, I took the brave step to come and see you.

I had my surgery in May of 2006. My husband spent our first anniversary taking care of me (memories we still laugh about… now). I was thrilled with my result. My desire was to have a flat stomach. Not to be skinny, just to have a nice, flat stomach that wouldn't be an issue in clothing like it was before. After undergoing tummy tuck in Toronto, I got what I was looking for.

After Tummy Tuck

Over the last three years I gained about 7 pounds and started to feel like I wasn't doing my surgery justice. I thought about the great stomach you made for me and how I would be crazy not to take care of it so, 4 weeks ago I gave up refined sugar. I was tired of being emotionally controlled by sugar and tired of it making my body doughy. I can't say I have a regular exercise routine but, with working full time having 2 children and 2 step children, I can't say I sit around much either.

My husband has recently taken up photography as a hobby so naturally, I've become his “subject”. Looking for poses in magazines and on websites and then trying to replicate them can be disappointing because I'll never be 18 again and I'll never be 6 feet tall with limbs that go on forever either so I just do the best I can with what I have. My husband took the enclosed photo of me yesterday and I was so happy with the result that it compelled me to get out my “before” photo for a comparison, also enclosed.

I'm sending you the two photos today with much thanks in my heart. Your surgery made a huge difference in my life. At 43, I never would have been able to look like this without your help and I never would have felt this good about myself. So hats off to you, from very appreciative patient.
