Dr. Lista on the Breast Lift Procedure
A breast lift usually takes about 2 hours. The most common procedure involves an anchor-shaped incision that goes around the edge of the areola, straight down into the bra crease and then along the bra crease. Toronto cosmetic surgeons Dr. Lista and Dr. Ahmad have pioneered a revolutionary operation that eliminates the long scar in the bra crease. This leaves the patient with much less scarring. This operation is often called the "stop sign" or "lollipop" procedure because the only scars are around the edge of the areola and straight down to the bra crease.
Pain after surgery is not only uncomfortable, it can also slow down the healing process. That’s why Dr. Lista and Dr. Ahmad take the time to anticipate patients’ pain needs in advance, to help reduce the time it takes for you to get back on your feet.
Toronto plastic surgery provider Dr. Lista introduced the revolutionary Pain Relief Pump™ to ease the pain in the first 24 hours after surgery. This MP3-sized device is worn in a belt around the waist, with a hair-thin tube connecting it to the surgical site. Completely automatically, the device regularly delivers a long-acting local anesthetic called bupivacaine into the wound.
The result is that patients feel absolutely no pain. That means that our patients do not usually need to take prescription pain medicines that can be associated with significant side effects such as nausea, vomiting and allergic reactions. Most patients do not need to take anything stronger than regular Tylenol® after surgery.
Toronto breast lift patients at the Plastic Surgery Clinic now experience no pain, heal faster, feel happier, have less swelling and simply recover more quickly. The Pain Relief Pump™ has proven invaluable in plastic surgery patients and is almost exclusively available at The Plastic Surgery Clinic. We use the Pain Relief Pump™ with patients undergoing a wide range of the plastic surgery procedures we offer.

During the operation, excess skin is removed above the nipple. The nipple is then moved up without removing it. If you're having an implant inserted along with your breast lift, it will be placed in a pocket directly under the breast tissue, or deeper, under the muscle of the chest wall.
