Risks and Complications of Brow Lift Surgery

Complications are rare and usually minor when a brow/forehead lift is performed by a qualified Toronto plastic surgeon. Please keep in mind that at The Plastic Surgery Clinic, we will fix any problem or treat any complication for free. If you have an unsatisfactory result and we think additional surgery will help solve the issue, we will perform the surgery for free.

In rare cases, the nerves that control eyebrow movement may be injured on one or both sides, resulting in a loss of ability to raise the eyebrows or wrinkle the forehead that may require additional surgery or may be permanent.

Another rare complication, the formation of a broad scar, may be treated surgically by removing the wide scar tissue so a new, thinner scar may result. In addition, some Toronto brow lift patients experience hair loss along the scar edges. Typically temporary, but sometimes permanent, loss of sensation along, or just beyond, the incision line is common, especially with the classic forehead lift procedure. Infection and bleeding are very rare, but are possibilities. If a complication should occur during an endoscopic brow/forehead lift, there is a small chance that we may have to abandon the endoscopic approach and switch to the conventional, open procedure. This may result in a more extensive scar and a longer recovery period.

You can reduce your risk of all complications by closely following our instructions both before and after surgery.
