At The Plastic Surgery Clinic we offer three types of facelift surgeries to best suit each individual cosmetic surgery patient: a short-scar facelift, a standard facelift, and a mini-facelift.
Normally, the scars of a facelift extend behind the ear and into the hairline. Using the newest advances in plastic surgery, Dr. Lista and Dr. Ahmad have developed an innovative short-scar, or limited-incision, facelift that achieves the same result as a full facelift but with a shorter scar.
In this technique the scar is limited to a very small incision just above and below the front of the ear, and an incision inside the ear. This new technique provides superb results while eliminating the hairline scar behind the ear. This means that women can wear their hair up and men do not have to worry about someone noticing the tell-tale signs of facelift surgery.
Incisions for a regular facelift usually begin above the hairline at the temples, extend in a natural line in front of the ear and just inside the cartilage at the front of the ear, and continue behind the earlobe to the hairline behind the ear. If the neck needs work, a small incision may also be made under the chin.
In general, your facelift Toronto surgeon will tighten the skin and muscle below. Fat may be trimmed or suctioned from around the neck and chin to improve the contour. The surgeon then tightens the underlying muscle and membrane, pulls the skin back, and removes any excess. Stitches secure the layers of tissue and close the incisions.
