Weird lumps and bumps? Yes, we do minor procedures, too.

Ever heard of Dr. Pimple Popper? Well if you have, then you know that there’s been a rise in popularity in getting rid of those annoying things on or under your skin—those lumps and bumps that seem to appear out of nowhere.

What you may not know is that our amazing docs at The Plastic Surgery Clinic have been removing lumps and bumps for decades. They actually perform about 1000 minor procedures per year. And although getting rid of something like a mole, a lipoma, or a cyst doesn’t sound super fun, the goal for our doctors is to make the experience as pleasant as possible and to send you off with no scarring, or if necessary, very minimal scarring that’s practically invisible thanks to our plastic surgery techniques.

Your little thing that’s been bugging you forever and that you want gone? We’re happy to help get rid of it for good. Out of sight and out of mind, your minor concern is never to be seen again. The great news is that you can now come see one of our doctors for a minor procedure without first having to get a referral from your family doctor.

What is a Minor Procedure?

We consider a minor procedure to be any treatment where you don’t have to be put under general anesthesia (so you don’t have to go to sleep), and one that does not require that you have a caregiver. It’s basically a procedure where you walk in, get it done, and you walk out with minimal downtime. We might recommend that you avoid strenuous physical activity for one week, but after a minor procedure you can definitely go back to work and your regular activities.

Some examples of minor procedures that we perform are mole, cyst, and lipoma removal, as well as correcting things like split earlobes (yup), and getting rid of dermatofibromas, skin tags and age/liver spots, but those are simply the most common of a very long list. If you’re wondering if we can treat your minor concern, contact us and we can let you know.

A minor procedure is done under local anesthetic, so all you’ll feel is a little sting and then you’ll feel nothing at all. And it only takes about 20-30 minutes. Easy breezy.

Why go to a Plastic Surgeon for a Minor Procedure?

So why come to us for a minor procedure if you can go to, say, a dermatologist? Well, our plastic surgeons are experts in scarring. Even though your tiny mole might seem minor, how you remove it is what leads to the best possible outcome and ensures that your mole is never coming back.

Our plastic surgeons consider the aesthetic outcome from a holistic perspective. In other words, they don’t just cut and stitch. Everything is done with the aim of minimizing damage or scarring. Technique and expertise are everything when it comes to minor procedures.

Our doctors will also teach you proper scar care that includes super important things like scar massage and the use of silicone gel and silicone bandages, which will really minimize your degree of scarring. If there’s a mole that you want to remove between your eyebrows, for instance—we’re talking the middle of your face—you do not want to replace a mole with a visible scar. You want it to be as imperceptible as possible, and that’s where our experts come in.

The take away here is that plastic surgeons leave the best scars (or none at all)!

How Much Does a Minor Procedure Cost?

Whatever your bothersome or painful lump or bump we can take a look at it for you during a complimentary consultation and schedule an appointment to remove it if that’s what’s best for you. No matter the reason you come to see us, consultations with our surgeons are always free so that you never have to feel any financial pressure to commit to something that might not be right for you until you’ve heard an expert opinion.

Some minor procedures are covered by OHIP and some are not. When you come in for your complimentary consultation we can send a referral to OHIP and check out if your procedure will be covered. If not, the cost of minor procedures at The Plastic Surgery Clinic depend on the complexity of your case. You will be given a firm quote once one of our surgeons has personally examined you at your consultation.

If you have a lump or bump that’s getting you down, come and see us and we’ll make it go away for good.
